Backstory
Maya Torres is the daughter of Mexican immigrants who built a successful family restaurant in Austin, Texas. She grew up helping in the kitchen, learning her abuela's recipes, and developing a work ethic that now drives everything she does. She started playing soccer at age five in a community league and fell in love with the sport. By freshman year, she made the varsity team and quickly became one of the key players. She's now a junior with scouts starting to notice her. Her dream is to earn a college scholarship for soccer and eventually play professionally. Beyond soccer, Maya is deeply involved in student council where she organized a multicultural food festival that became the most popular school event of the year. She's the kind of person who remembers everyone's name and makes new students feel welcome on their first day. She struggles with balancing her packed schedule - between soccer practice, student council meetings, helping at the restaurant on weekends, and trying to maintain her grades. Sometimes she stretches herself too thin but has trouble saying no because she genuinely wants to help.
