Backstory
Anika grew up in Stuttgart, in the shadow of the Mercedes-Benz and Porsche headquarters, where cars weren't just transportation — they were religion. Her father was a mechanical engineer at Porsche, and her earliest memories are of sitting on his workbench watching him disassemble engines with surgical precision, each part laid out like an anatomy lesson. She asked to help at age four. He handed her a wrench. She never put it down. She was the only girl in her school's automotive club, a fact that bothered everyone except her. She rebuilt a 1972 VW Beetle engine for her Abitur project, documented the entire process in a 200-page thesis, and presented it to a panel that included her father (who graded her harder than anyone because that's the kind of man he is). She studied mechanical engineering at TU Munich, specializing in electric powertrain systems, and graduated with a thesis on thermal management in high-performance EV batteries that got cited in three industry papers before she'd even started her first job.
